Review of Serif WebPage X5

We had to write a review of the programme we had been using to make the website. I used Photoshop to write my review on.

I made a Website to do with Photography. I added some of my backlighting work to it. The logo, navigation bar and text style is the same on each page so its corporate. The White space is also the same colour, and has the same pattern on it on each slide.On the Gallery slide i have added 'child pages' coming of it. These will include different types of Photography that i have done. Again on the Contact us page i have added links to, Youtube, Google plus, Facebook, Twitter and Blogger.
I had trouble making the headers for this website because on 2 of the pages the Logo stretched across the page and we had trouble finding out what the problem was with it, In the end i managed to figure it out.

This is my Website for Ellie Rose Designs. I used the same colours, text and header all the way through to make it have a more corporate look to it. The navigation bar is also the same colour to make it fit in with the colour scheme.By having the logo and navigation bar on all the pages it makes it look more corporate.I used the same text style and size for each header on the pages.I am pleased with how the website turned out, and how easy it was to make once i got the hang of it all. I have also linked my website to the blog, youtube and google plus by adding hyperlinks to the logos. I was suprised when they worked and how fast they actually loaded. I kept the White space on each page the same colour.

Adding 'Child pages'

Child pages are pages coming of the main page, for example i have added 'child pages' to the gallery page. This allows you to stay in the same section of the website but just go onto another page to look at more things related to the topic, I have added more pages onto the Gallery pages so people would be able to look at older photographs, and different types of photography such as abstract, perspective.
You can add 'Child pages' by clicking the page with a +on it, then selecting 'Child page' and then change the name to whatever you want it to be.

Changing the names of the page

At the side of the side of the page, there is a list of the pages with the names. To change the name, click the page you want, then scroll down to page properties,change the name to whatever you want and then click ok.

Hyperlinks

By either adding a new link of going onto a icon you can add a Hyperlink to it, to take you to a page of your choice, either on your website or on the internet..such as the Blogger icon i have added a link to it to go straight to my Blog.

Website

I changed the Header of the website, by putting my logo on it and changed the title to Ellie Rose Designs,I have also changed the colour of the background from pink to purple and changed the navigation bar, to fit more into the design.

Adding pictures to the website

I chose a slide show form to show my pictures on my gallery page of my website. I got to choose which pictures i used, the colour and stle of the slideshow viewer, and then got to place it on the website page. By using this format it is a easier way to view the images as they are all in one place, and the slideshow moves on by itself.

Design moodboards

I designed some moodboards for what i want to add to my website i create.
I have added things such as colour schemes, backgrounds and some social media icons, so when it comes to making my website i have an idea of what i want to put on it.

Site map

This is just a brief plan of what my website will include, each page will have a link back to the home page, or other pages, so its easier to move around the website onto different pages.

Changing the cursor

I wanted to change the cursor to fit in with the page, I managed to find a cupcake cursor that i liked.I found the HTML for the page and the bit that changed the cursor, then i got the HTML for the cupcake cursor that i liked and added it to the blog HTML.

I think the cursor works well with the page as i have already got cupcakes on my blog as the links.

Logo Variations

I desinged a logo for my blog and website. I was happy with the shape of it and the font, so i experimented with the colours till i found one that i liked.i quite liked the one with the black outline on as it stood out more, but i prefered the white outline as it looked more neutral and not as bold.

After the Glossary we had to research website and blogs, and see what they had in common, and where the navigation bar and search bar were on each one.We also had to look at websites and blogs for different demographic groups to see how they varied on colours and how busy they were.

My first task was to do a Glossary from the list of words we were given. Some of them were hard to find but once we had changed round the words in the search engine we managed to find the definition of the words.
